MGCNLCA Makes Waves in FCAAF Swimming Competition

The MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA)  swimming varsity went home with a sparkling haul of gold, silver, and bronze in the Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletes Federation (FCAAF) last February 31 and March 1 at Xavier School San Juan.

With a total of 18 medals consisting of 10 golds, 5 silvers, and 3 bronzes, the results are a testament to New Lifers’ commitment to the sport as they trained hard to earn their respective spots.

“This competition shows the culmination of a year's worth of work and the changes that come with [it], not solely due to the medal haul, but [because the athletes are] hungry for something far more than that,” remarked Assistant Coach Michael Martin, who hopes to carry the same momentum into the next season.

Boys’ Individuals

Evan Michael Gaw secured one gold and two silvers in the 100-meter breaststroke, 100-meter individual medley, and 50-meter breaststroke, respectively.

Joining Gaw in the boys’ team was Antonio Mikael Dela Cruz, who earned a second-place finish in the 100-meter backstroke and third in the 50-meter backstroke.

Nichelle Monique Dela Cruz clinched first place in the 100-meter backstroke, 50-meter backstroke, 100-meter freestyle, and second in the 100-meter individual medley, as well as the 50-meter freestyle.

Alexandra Franchesca Wang earned the top spot in the 100-meter individual medley, 50-meter breaststroke, 100-meter breaststroke, 50-meter butterfly, and the 100-meter freestyle.

Finally, Nicolle Writz So added to the total count of medals with her golds in the 50-meter breaststroke and 100-meter freestyle.
