Saint Jude Wins First MGCNLCA STEM Bee

Saint Jude Catholic School emerged as champion in MGC New Life Christian Academy’s first-ever Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Bee held last November 8 at the school auditorium.  St. Stephen’s High School and Immaculate Conception Academy Greenhills took second and third place, respectively.

This milestone event was organized by Project Manager Yejoon Cho and Co-Project Manager Aaron Russel Kho, along with fellow Olive students Laira Caylee Chunpeng, Zachary Ethan Yao, Alexander Mark Zheng, Vaughn Riley Khu, and Jairus Jacob Lee as part of their Empowerment Technology subject.

“As a STEM student myself, I’ve seen firsthand the amount of talent young learners across different schools bring to STEM. However, I also noticed how few opportunities there are for students to connect directly with other schools beyond their individual achievements,” expressed Cho.

To address this gap, STEM Bee brought students from eight private schools across the National Capital Region to showcase their skills in the STEM field, challenging them to develop their analytical and critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity. The event featured an engaging, multi-stage competition consisting of written exams, whiteboard challenges, and a final buzzer round.

Reflecting on the experience, Kho said, “I've realized what made STEM Bee so special… was the energy and effort of the MGCNL students and staff [that I] appreciated the most. We were able to learn so much and connect with so many people, [even those] that we would have never known.”
