New LPY and UPY SC Officers Take Oath

The MGC New Life Christian Academy Student Council (SC) welcomed its new set of Lower Primary Years (LPY) and Upper Primary Years (UPY) officers as they took their oaths last September 8 and 11, respectively.

Elected to the council were Kylie Nicole Yu, Maxine Elise Lim, Jose Leandro Abuso, and Adrielle Keziah Ong for Jericho; Eduardo Pio Goyeneche, Vittoria Pua, En Jie Koh, Ellie Rose Tancinco for Gethsemane; Rosh Calah Tacsay, Toby Mason Tan, Javier Luis Abadia, Sohyun Cho for Galilee; Aiko Chan, Danellie Jem Yeung, Brianna Kendall Chua, and Celestine Miel Chua for Jordan.

The oath-taking was administered by SC Advisers Hannah Pearl Repotente and Jeff Enerson Manalo for the LPY and UPY, respectively. The officers pledged to serve their student communities to the best of their abilities and uphold academic excellence and character at all times, all for the glory of God.

Leading up to the elections, all candidates campaigned from August 10 to 20, with a miting de avance held on August 24. The elections were held on September 2 through a ballot voting system.

The election, however, did not continue without interruption: a coin-toss election, the procedure used in local government elections when there is a need for a tiebreaker, was held for the Jordan B students due to a tie between Axle Jacob Qua and Yeung, with Yeung ultimately winning.

Reflecting on becoming an SC officer, Yeung stated, “I learned that being an SC leader requires [being] responsible, [having] good leadership skills, and [managing] my class while representing it. I also learned… that a leader needs to have a good attitude and [be] organized.”
