MGCNLCA 12U Basketball Varsity Secures First Runner-Up in GPSOA Division Meet

The MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) 12-Under elementary basketball team concluded their Division Meet campaign as first runners-up in the Taguig-Pateros Division after bowing to Silangan Elementary School, 42–85, in the finals on January 18, 2026, at the MGCNLCA Gymnasium. 

The New Lifers’ journey began earlier in the season on November 25 and 27, 2025, when they competed in the Group of Private School Owners and Administrators finals. In a thrilling two-game series, MGCNLCA emerged victorious over Pateros Catholic School (PCS), earning the right to represent the private schools of Taguig and Pateros in the Division Meet.

The Division Meet officially opened on January 17, 2026, at EMS Signal Elementary School. The New Lifers faced an early setback in their opening game,  suffering a 61–28 loss to Silangan Elementary School. However, the New Lifers bounced back in their next matchup, defeating PCS, 69–49. 

That win was powered by an outstanding performance from Tobey Alexander Hui, who starred with a triple-double: 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. He was supported by Keimon Mikael Yu, who added  13 points to seal the victory.

Advancing to the finals the following day, MGCNLCA once again faced SES. Yu led the team’s offensive efforts with 14 points,  while Luke Jayven Sim chipped in eight points and Jeremy Sean Bustos added seven.

Although they fell short of the championship, the New Lifers’  first runner-up finish capped an impressive and commendable end to their season.
