Renewing and Rekindling: Building Stronger Parent-Child Relationships

It was two days of bonding for Nazareth and Berea students as they spent an exciting Renewal and Rekindling (RnR) Day with their parents at the school auditorium and gymnasium last March 13 and February 26, respectively.

The annual events, held by the school’s Guidance and Testing Center, aim to strengthen bonds through parent-child activities and meaningful messages. Nazareth students had their RnR with moms, while Berea students had theirs with dads.

During the RnR of Grade 7 students, School Director Helen Villanueva and her son, Seth Samuel Villanueva of Batch 17, spoke about how parent-child support is crucial to developing relationships.

Following this, Therese Dela Cruz from the Asian Psychological Services and Assessments Inc. explained that by evaluating their children’s Social-Emotional Learning test results, mothers can better understand how to nurture their relationship with them.

Finally, the Grade 7 RnR closed with parent-child bonding time, designed for the students and moms to share what they love about each other and write heartfelt messages for one another.

Meanwhile, Grade 8 students had their own RnR with their fathers two weeks prior. Pastor Jebo Banzuelo of the Christian Gospel Center shared how parents can better communicate with their children, giving tips on how both students and parents can have more meaningful conversations.

The Grade 8 RnR ended with a sportsfest held in the school gymnasium, where dads and their children enjoyed physically and mentally challenging activities and food booths, allowing them to build fun memories together.
