MGCNLCA Holds In-House Concert: Praise Beyond Words
MGC New Life Christian Academy came alive with heartfelt music last November 6 as teachers, guests, and Grades 10 to 12 students witnessed The Well Project: Praise Beyond Words, a special concert featuring composer and musician Dr. Alfred Lee in the school auditorium.
A Malaysian composer and musician who has played at world-renowned events such as the Sydney and Athens Olympics, Lee shared, “[My music] comes from my heart. It’s almost like I'm sharing myself [with] people… I know that the gift is given by the Lord for a purpose. So I want to draw people using that gift, draw people to Him, not to me.”
The program began with Lee’s instrumental rendition of the Philippine National Anthem, which was followed by his solo performances of several songs such as “Love Me Tender,” “A Mighty Fortress is Our God,” and “Via Dolorosa.”
Afterwards, Lee was joined by Early Years teacher Shekinah Dangan in a memorable duet of “The Prayer.” Dangan was then accompanied by Lee in a cover of “How Great is Our God.” The composer also performed various familiar movie tunes, to the delight of the audience..
As the event came to a close, Lee played his final song, a medley of “Amazing Grace” and “Ode to Joy.”
This concert was held in support of the Well Project, which aims to provide clean and accessible water to rural communities around the world, including Cebu and Palawan.
