New Lifers Triumph at the 11th YMUNT
New Lifers from the Model United Nations (MUN) Varsity made their mark at the 11th Yale MUN Taiwan (YMUNT), as they took home awards from the conference held in Taipei last March 14 to 16.
Amanda Dana Chiong of Zion and Justine Kimberly Tan of Damascus were awarded Best Delegate and Outstanding Delegate, respectively, in the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
In the World Bank committee, Lauren Mielle Wong from batch Olive was recognized as Best Delegate, while Justine Bryce Sigua from batch Patmos was given an Honorable Mention.
Meanwhile, Olive student Gabrielle Ruth Hablero was given the Outstanding Delegate award in the Special Committee on the Charter of the United Nations and on the Strengthening of the Role of the Organization, while Patmos student Christian Lucas Garcia was named Outstanding Delegate in Wizengamot.
Furthermore, Damascus student Sophia Jadrine Sy garnered an Honorable Mention in the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization.
Following the theme “Empower, Enrich, Excel,” the 11th YMUNT aimed to foster diplomacy and cultural exchange while empowering the youth to think for themselves in hopes of creating a better world. Around 350 delegates from all across the Asia-Pacific region took part in this year’s iteration.
