Olive Students Apply for Jobs in First Horizons Job Fair
In preparation for their upcoming work immersion during the summer break, the Grade 11 students of MGC New Life Christian Academy gained firsthand experience of the job application process at the 2025 Horizon Job Fair, held in the school auditorium last March 19.
Held for the first time in collaboration with the Hexagon Group of Companies, the job fair provided the students with the opportunity to apply for internships as part of their work immersion in July.
“We’d like the students to understand and feel a simulated experience of applying for a job,” said Accountancy, Business, and Management Strand Co-Coordinator Daniel Dionisio Jr. He explained that this event allowed students to apply soft skills and gain beneficial real-world experience.
The Olive students underwent an interview with representatives from the Talent Management and Development Department of Hexagon. They also completed an application form and submitted their resumes and cover letters to their prospective employers.
To further prepare the Olive students for their immersion, Fredelito “Niño” Suarez from the United Neon Media Group spoke about his company and their values. Suarez emphasized the importance of finding passion in one’s career and building proper relationships. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of curiosity and continuous learning in the corporate world, encouraging students to develop this skill.
Olive A’s Chris Patrick Dylan Gaw shared that the job fair taught him the value of curiosity and actively seeking new knowledge. “The thirst for knowledge is essential for growth,” he said. “I really enjoyed Mr. Suarez’s insightful talk because it really helped me see a different side of the corporate world that I hadn’t seen before.”
