4th LIFEMUN: Championing Collaborative Diplomacy

Now in its fourth iteration, the LIFE Model United Nations (LIFEMUN) conference successfully gathered 209 delegates and 37 press correspondents for a weekend of diplomacy, collaboration, and global discourse on December 6 to 7, 2025.

Organized by the MGC New Life Christian Academy Model United Nations Varsity, this year’s theme, “Cooperation in Crisis: Redefining Global Parity for Global Resilience,” was guided by Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (ESV), which says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”

School Director Helen Villanueva opened the 4th LIFEMUN by encouraging attendees to remain courageous, resilient, and determined in the midst of crisis. Keynote speaker and Asian Institute of Management professor Dr. Federico Macaranas also stressed the importance of these values as he shared insights from his work as a diplomat, noting the extensiveness of global issues and urging participants to contribute positively to society by acting responsibly and intentionally.

This year marked the significant expansion of the conference, with the addition of two new committees and one new press agency. The 4th LIFEMUN featured six committees: the Social Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee, the Disarmament and International Security Committee, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, the International Court of Justice, and the League of Arab States. Meanwhile, chronicling the events of the conference were the five agencies of the Press Corps, namely Lumos Times, The Crimson Star, The Cerulean Post, The Canary Chronicle, and The Amaranthine Sun.

After six committee sessions, the event concluded with a plenary session, awarding, and closing remarks from School Principal Evangeline Co.

Secretary-General Gabrielle Ruth Hablero of batch Zion described the planning of the 4th LIFEMUN as demanding yet rewarding. “I was both scared and excited for this specific reiteration, since we added two new committees to our existing lineup of four,” she shared. “Nonetheless, it was extremely fulfilling to see LIFEMUN become an unforgettable weekend and an integral stepping stone in many young [diplomats’ journeys].”

Now in her final year of MUN leadership, the Zion student added, “I hope that [the next generation of MGCNLCA MUN continues] to be anchored by the desire to glorify God every step of the way as champions of diplomacy.”

MUN is an academic simulation of the United Nations, in which students represent countries, organizations, or characters in order to address global issues through debate, negotiation, and resolution-writing.

Hi! I’m a senior from Batch 22 -- a volleyball enthusiast, certified foodie, and a big fan of good laughs with friends and family. When I’m not on the court training for our next game, I’m probably out on the hunt for my next hotpot and froyo fix.
