JHS Students Explore Filipino Culture and Wildlife in Pampanga

In order to deepen students’ learning experience beyond the classroom, the Junior High School (JHS) Department traveled to Clark, Pampanga, for an educational trip last February 13.

The JHS students started off the trip with a visit to Binhi Philippine Cultural Edventure, where they explored Filipino history and culture through interactive activities, including playing traditional games like Patintero and learning cultural dances like Tinikling

Afterwards, the students observed a wide variety of animals, from reptiles to birds, while learning about their habitats and behaviors, at the Clark Safari.

“Seeing the animals up close and learning about their unique characteristics made the trip even more exciting because it helped me understand the importance of protecting wildlife and appreciating the world [beyond our classroom],” shared Alpine Noel Chua of Patmos.

The educational trip concluded at Dinosaur Island. There, the students and teachers visited selected attractions such as the Fossil Garden, Wonders of the World, and the Jurassic Train Ride, featuring world landmarks, dinosaur sculptures, and an entertaining show.

“I enjoyed [learning] while having fun. I liked seeing the dinosaurs and animals up close, and I also learned more about Filipino culture. This trip taught me to appreciate nature, history, and our traditions,” expressed Damascus student Sophia Elyse Liao.

According to JHS Supervisor Karen Fulgencio, the trip was meant to promote experiential learning, curiosity, critical thinking, and social development. Fulgencio reflected, “Students also practiced independence, responsibility, teamwork, and proper behavior in public settings—important life skills that support holistic development.”
