Lifenews Jr.’s All-Rookie Team Qualifies for the DSPC

MGC New Life Christian Academy’s Lifenews Jr.’s all-rookie team made an impressive debut as it advanced to the Division Schools Press Conference after placing in the Top 15 of the Taguig-Pateros (TAPAT) Private Schools Press Conference (PSPC) on its first try.

Lifenews Jr. sent five participants to the TAPAT PSPC last  November 16 to compete in the English News Writing and Feature Writing categories, Elementary Level.

Representing the school in News Writing were Alexandra Francesca Wang (Grade 4), Luke Halden Gonzales (Grade 5), and Patreace Orene Tiu (Grade 6). In Feature Writing, Alanna Riley Uy (Grade 4) and Nayla Serene Mateo (Grade 5) represented the team.

All five New Lifers placed in the top 15, and three secured podium finishes. In Feature Writing, Uy placed second, and Mateo bagged third. Meanwhile, in News Writing, Gonzales was awarded second place, and Wang and Tiu garnered fourth and eighth place, respectively.

Despite being a team of only five rookies, the school finished as the ninth runner-up in the elementary division. However, the victory wasn’t without challenges for the team of first-timers. Wang said, “It was hard because we had little training.”

Assembled just last October, Lifenews Jr. had only one month of preparation for the PSPC, while some of their competitors were already veterans with years of expertise and exposure.

The team believes that with more training and experience, they could have performed better. They hope to train harder and aim for a first-place finish next year.
