Zionation and Damascus Dreamers Triumph in the 22nd Ichthus Intramurals and Lifeweek 2025
After a whole week of intense battles, Zionation and Damascus Dreamers came out on top of their respective divisions during MGC New Life Christian Academy’s 22nd Ichthus Intramural Games and Lifeweek held from October 20 to 24.
The week-long event kicked off on Monday with the highly anticipated batch dance, where students from Grades 7 to 10 showcased their batch unity and creative talents through dance. The Berea Badgers were declared batch dance champions, followed by the Nazareth Nighthawks as first runner-up and Patmos Pandas as second runner-up.
The intramurals then continued with a series of intense inter-batch competitions in badminton, basketball, chess, table tennis, and volleyball.
In the end, the Damascus Dreamers emerged as champions in the Juniors’ Division, while Zionation claimed victory in the Seniors’ Division.
With the theme “Purpose-Driven,” this year’s Ichthus Intramural Games were held simultaneously with the Student Government’s (SG) annual Lifeweek. Aside from the different sports games, students also enjoyed dress-up themes and other activities throughout the week.
On Tuesday, students dressed up in their most comfortable pajamas and showed off their culinary skills in a cooking competition, where Zionation and Berea Badgers came out as the victors.
On Wednesday, dressed as their favorite fictional characters, the Patmos Pandas were crowned the champion in the Valorant E-sports Competition in the Seniors’ Division, while Damascus Dreamers were the winner of the Juniors’ Division.
Lifeweek wrapped up with Thursday’s dodgeball competition and sports attire themed dress-up, where the Nazareth Nighthawks, Damascus Dreamers, and Patmos Pandas emerged victorious.
In an effort to enhance batch unity and spirit among the students, the 22nd Ichthus Intramural Games was combined with Lifeweek in order to create an opportunity for students to foster deeper connections with one another and cultivate a stronger sense of community that extends beyond the classroom.
“By combining [Intrams and Lifeweek], one of the things that we want to be able to show… is the pride that the batch has in their own right, but also collectively as a school. We promote the school culture that we have,” shared SG Adviser Gershwin Choa-shi.
“The camaraderie and the unity of the batch is strengthened because they have more activities that [promote] teamwork... You will also be able to see the different talents and the skills and the gifts of the students. Some of them might be good [at] sports and some are good [at] cooking and e-sports… I hope that they will always remember why they do what they do and to always give back the glory to the Giver of gifts, to the Giver of talent,” remarked School Principal Evangeline Co.
