A Step of Faith: MGCNLCA Breaks Ground for Alabang Campus
“We lay our foundation through obedience, faith, perseverance, and God’s leading.”
With these words, MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) School Director Helen Villanueva set the tone for the symbolic Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Alabang Campus held last February 10.
School officials, donors, and guests gathered at the site of the new campus for a ceremonial shoveling of soil, thus marking the official start of the construction of MGCNLCA’s new campus.
Guided by the theme, “Laying the Foundation for Future Generations,” the ceremony symbolized more than just the beginning of the building project, but of stepping out in faith to “break the ground” so that the foundation can be laid.
This was followed by a short message from Batch 6 alumnus and architect Marc Heinrich Go, who reminded the attendees that Jesus is the foundation and the cornerstone of the Church, for whom the campus is being built. “What we build is not the problem, but forgetting who we build for is. We should know our whys,” remarked Go.
Three days prior to the groundbreaking ceremony, the MGCNLCA community also gathered at the site to walk around the perimeter of the Alabang Campus seven times. Inspired by the biblical account of the march around Jericho, the event also served as a symbol of dedicating the new campus to be a place for shaping hearts and raising future leaders.
At the conclusion of the final round of the prayer walk, Makati Gospel Church Senior Pastor Reverend Harg Timothy Ang uplifted the march with a unified shout, declaring faith and obedience in the Lord in building the new campus.
“We are not trusting in walls, structures, or human plans alone. We are trusting in the God who goes before us,” stated Villanueva.
Board of Trustees Chairman James Tioco echoed this sentiment, as he shared how God works through obedience, even in light of uncertainties. “We are trusting God—not just for provision, but for His purpose,” said Tioco. “If God has indeed brought us this far, what more can he do in the future?”
This milestone also prompted a recollection of the school’s journey over the years—from its humble beginnings in a home in Paco, Manila, to a building in Dela Rosa Street, Makati, then to a campus in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, and now to the establishment of a second campus in Alabang Global City, Las Piñas.
“Let us step forward with grateful hearts, remembering where God has brought us from. Let us step forward with faith-filled eyes, trusting where He is leading us next. And let us step forward with faithful confidence declaring that the God who began this good work will surely carry it to completion,” expressed Villanueva.
