MGCNLCA 18U Volleyball Team Clinches Historic FCAAF Crown

The MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) 18-Under (18U) Volleyball Team made history by capturing its first championship title in the Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) last November 16, beating Chiang Kai Shek College (CKSC) in the finals match held at the CKSC Narra Gym.

Making the victory even sweeter was the fact that MGCNLCA captured their first-ever FCAAF title by defeating CKSC, an opponent they had never beaten in the finals until now.

The New Lifers dominated early, cruising to a 25–11 first-set win over CKSC, due to Team Captain Peach Oribelle Diño’s service aces and the team’s sharp attacks and solid floor defense. The New Lifers carried over their momentum to the second set, finishing with a score of 25-20. Despite a strong effort from the New Lifers, CKSC fought back to take the third set, 20-25. CKSC wasted no time asserting control in the fourth set, quickly building a lead and arriving at set point, 20-24. However, the New Lifers went on an incredible six-point run, forcing a deuce and ultimately clinching the set—and the championship at 26-24.

Diño shared, “We played not as individuals separated by age or experience, but as one team with one goal. That bond is what pushed us over the finish line and made this victory possible.”

Diño dominated the court and was awarded the Most Valuable Player,  while teammates Andrea Louise Reyes and Sofia Caylen Cordova were named part of the Mythical Six.
