MGCNLCA Community Runs for New Life

Waking up at the crack of dawn, over 1,200 participants joined “Run for New Life”  last November 22 at the Philippine Army Grandstand in Taguig City. A four-category fun run of 1 km, 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km open to all students, teachers, parents, alumni, and individuals outside the MGCNLCA community, the event served as the social impact project of several Grade 11 students for their Empowerment Technology subject.

Led by Project Managers Justine Bryce Sigua, Hannah Isabelle Chiu, and Eden Grace Uang, the event was designed not only to raise funds but also to strengthen community bonds. “We wanted it to be something that brings people together: a moment where our community can bond, have fun, and feel united while working toward a meaningful goal,” Sigua shared.

The idea for a fun run came from a few members who recently developed an interest in running. Through this, the group saw the opportunity to share this enthusiasm with the school community while supporting a meaningful cause. All of the event’s proceeds will be donated to their beneficiary, Bahay Aruga, to support children undergoing cancer treatment at the Philippine General Hospital.

Run For New Life concluded with strong participation and overwhelming community support. “We hope it becomes a reminder that even mere students can create something so powerful when we come together,” Sigua said.

Aside from the project managers, other members of the team include Kimi Lauren Esteban, Carl Matthew Cu, Roberto Fulgencio, Allie Jean Ong, Lance Ngo, Andrea Louise Reyes, Erich Chanelle Sy, Ralph Jacob Fontarum, and Rianne Denise Sy.

Hi! I’m a senior from Batch 22 -- a volleyball enthusiast, certified foodie, and a big fan of good laughs with friends and family. When I’m not on the court training for our next game, I’m probably out on the hunt for my next hotpot and froyo fix.
