Passion and Purpose Fuel MGCNLCA’s Student Leadership Conference 2025
Over a hundred high school student leaders of MGC New Life Christian Academy gathered last August 9 at the school auditorium for the annual Student Leadership Conference, a day marked by energy, passion, and a call to live out their purpose.
Guided by the theme, “Transformative Communication for Student Leaders,” the conference equipped students with the skills for effective communication and leadership while inspiring them to lead with integrity, conviction, and faith.
School Director Helen Villanueva started the day by encouraging the students to develop their leadership skills regardless of their age, and to serve as role models through their speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.
The highlight of the conference was the husband-and-wife tandem of Judah Paolo, a former television personality and current itinerant minister in Christ’s Commission Fellowship, and Earl Beja-Paolo, a former broadcast journalist and the co-founder and president of LEAD OUT Coaching & Consultancy Inc.
Kicking off the first session in the morning, Beja-Paolo introduced The Five Cs of Effective Communication: Context, Content, Creative, Complete, and Choice. Using this framework, she guided the students on how to convey their thoughts and ideas constructively in addressing conflicts in real-life situations.
Furthermore, Beja-Paolo urged students to let go of limiting thoughts that diminish their self-confidence to communicate effectively. “As leaders, we cannot be victims of how people see us,” she asserted.
For the second session, Paolo challenged the students to soar to limitless heights for the glory of God and live for the audience of One. He reminded them of the importance of choosing a path of obedience to God, leading a life completely devoted to Him, as their actions shape their identity and future.
To close the event, School Principal Evangeline Co reminded the students that leadership is not a position, but rather a calling rooted in humility, conviction, integrity, and compassion. “Lead strong. Lead well. Lead with Jesus,” concluded Co.
