Music Meets Purpose at Expanding Horizons: A Musical Celebration

Malaysian composer and musician Dr. Alfred Lee returned to the MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) stage on February 27 for Expanding Horizons: A Musical Celebration, a fundraiser for the MGCNLCA Alabang Campus.

Through music and personal testimony shared with students, teachers, and parents, the event cast a vision for the campus’s future as the community expressed gratitude for what God has done.

The program started with a performance by the Upper Primary Years Choir, who joined Lee on stage for a rendition of “When You Believe.”

Taking the spotlight once more, Lee delivered a series of solo performances, including “Holy Forever,” “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “Jesus Loves Me, This I Know.” He also performed a medley from The Phantom of the Opera, featuring excerpts of several songs from the renowned musical.

“I was inspired by the way he cultivates his beautiful talent and uses it to bring glory to God. His performance was not just a concert; it evoked deep emotion and brought the community together in worship of the Lord,” Grade 12 parent Julie Mateo remarked.

As a heartfelt tribute to the mentors who shaped her journey, MGCNLCA teacher and alumna Janaye Villanueva performed “You Raise Me Up,” accompanied by Lee. In her message, she reflected on how MGNLCA had been more than just a school to her but a true home. Villanueva offered the song as a personal expression of gratitude to those who raised her and to the Lord who continues to sustain her.

Lee previously performed at MGCNLCA in November 2025 in support of The Well Project, an initiative that aims to provide clean and accessible water to rural communities around the world.
