Romualdez Brothers Deliver Multi-Medal Finish at Palarong Pambansa 2026
With precision, strategy, and tactical brilliance, New Lifers Danry Seth Romualdez and Davin Sean Romualdez emerged among the country’s top chess players as they brought home a total of six medals from the Palarong Pambansa 2026, held from May 24 to 29 in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.
Representing the National Capital Region (NCR), the Romualdez brothers earned their spots in the nationwide meet after successfully advancing through the NCR regional qualifiers earlier this year as representatives of Taguig-Pateros.
Incoming Jordan student Danry Romualdez continued to prove his mettle as he led NCR to gold-medal finishes in the Elementary Boys Team Blitz and Team Standard Events, while securing silver medals in the Individual Rapid and Team Rapid Events. These achievements mark his second consecutive year delivering a medal-filled campaign at the Palarong Pambansa, following his breakout performance in the 2025 edition in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, where he also captured two gold medals and two silver medals.
Meanwhile, incoming Olive student Davin Romualdez made an immediate impact in his first-ever Palarong Pambansa appearance, garnering a silver medal in the Secondary Boys Team Blitz Event and a bronze medal in the Team Rapid Event.
With multiple medals secured and another successful campaign in the books, the Romualdez brothers further established themselves as formidable competitors on the national chess stage.
