MGCNLCA 18U Varsity Advances to Regionals in Rebisco Volleyball League

The MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) 18-Under Volleyball Team made history as they advanced to the Regional Finals of the Rebisco Volleyball League, marking the first time the New Lifers reached the regional stage after previously stopping at the Pre-Qualifying Leg.

Held from January 8 to 9, 2026 at Octagon Village Covered Court, the New Lifers opened the regional tournament with a loss against veteran team National University-Nazareth School in two straight sets (10–25, 10–25). But the team quickly regrouped and secured a straight-set victory against Escuela de Sophia of Caloocan Inc. (25–19, 25–13). However, their third game ended in a 10–25, 15–25 loss to Capitol Hills Christian School, Inc., concluding their Rebisco campaign.

MGCNLCA earned their spot in the regional round after winning the Metro Manila South 1 Pre-Qualifying Leg on August 24, 2025. The New Lifers swept through the elimination round with victories over Assumption College-San Lorenzo, International Christian Academy, and San Beda University in the semifinals, before defeating International Christian Academy once again in the finals to secure the championship.

Team Captain Peach Oribelle Diño was thankful for their experience of being able to join the league. “This is the first time we’ve had the opportunity to compete in the Rebisco Volleyball League, and simply earning our spot among the best teams in the region is already a victory for us. We may not have won, but competing alongside some of the country’s strongest teams proves how far our team has come. Facing seasoned, high-level teams definitely pushed us to grow,” said Diño.
