MGCNLCA Badminton Varsity Doubles Teams Qualify for NCR Meet

MGC New Life Christian Academy’s (MGCNLCA) high school and elementary girls’ doubles pairs powered through the competition to claim gold at the 2026 Taguig-Pateros Division Meet last January 17 to 18 at the Rockyside Multipurpose Building in Taguig, securing their spots in the upcoming regional tournament.

High schoolers Alessi Johanna Chua and Bethany Grace Tan, along with the elementary girls’ doubles pair Jaina Lauren Ang and Sandrine Daye Soliven, beat their respective opponents to book a spot in the NCR Meet of the Palarong Pambansa.

Several other New Lifers also delivered strong performances throughout the competition. Sharlize Yllyna Bayot and Lexie Eva Siao battled their way to bronze medals in the high school singles categories. In the elementary division, Julia Violet Lim earned bronze in singles, while the doubles pair of Liam Hunter Co and Rafa Lorenzo Chao also finished on the podium with third place.

Looking ahead to the regional meet, the Chua-Tan doubles pair shared their focus moving forward. “We want to work on improving our rotation and strategy—play more aggressively and communicate better. We look forward to playing with and getting to know new players, and hopefully place in NCR,” Tan shared.

With their Division Meet victories, the pairs of Chua-Tan and Ang-Soliven now set their sights on the NCR level, aiming to carry their momentum into the next stage of competition.
