New Lifers Excel at WMI 2026

Two New Lifers received international recognition in the final round of the World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) 2026 held last July 10 to 14 in Chiba and Tokyo, Japan.

Phillip Anthony Tsai of Damascus garnered the Diamond Award and was recognized as the Top 3 Awardee, placing him among the top 3% of participants worldwide, while David Gerard Sy of Berea was awarded bronze.

The final round consists of two rounds, with gold, silver, and bronze awardees from the preliminary round qualifying for the following stage.

Both Tsai and Sy qualified for the WMI Finals after winning gold and bronze, respectively, in the elimination round held last February.

Founded in Taiwan in 2013, the WMI is an annual international mathematics competition that aims to promote mathematical excellence among students from Grades 1 to 12 worldwide.
