35 Years in Bloom: MGCNLCA Celebrates Teachers’ Day 2026

It was a day of music, cheers, and heartfelt appreciation as the MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) teachers took center stage for the annual Teachers’ Day celebration last September 25 at the school auditorium.  

With the theme “Blossom,” Student Government, Coral Reef Fellowship, and Whales officers celebrated all the teachers, faculty, retainers, cell group leaders, and coaches who have been nurturing, inspiring, and helping New Lifers blossom and grow.

To kick off the event, each department participated in a round of classical charades, followed by the “Garden of Goals,” a reflective segment where each teacher wrote their personal targets and aspirations for this school year and posted them onto their respective floral boards.

Afterwards, Batch 10 alumnus Bryce Miranda thanked the teachers for their love and support which has shaped him to who he is today. Despite transferring to another school during his early high school years, Miranda, who played the Little Drummer Boy in the school musical in 2010, looked back on his memories and experiences from his time at MGCNLCA as he reunited with his old teachers. 

School Director Helen Villanueva then shared a short message about how teachers are the gardeners of their students’ lives and journey. “Before anything can blossom, someone first has to plant the seed,” expressed Villanueva. 

She also paid a heartfelt tribute to the teachers and coaches who have recently passed away. Villanueva then recognized all the former students of Gloria Wei (魏老師) and all of the alumni-teachers who have returned to give back to the school. The school director ended with the video “Life of a Teacher,” which showed the everyday sacrifices that teachers make in fulfilling their calling.

The event also showcased multiple audio-visual presentations featuring students from different grade levels as they conveyed their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers. Whales then performed a special number of “Just The Way You Are,” by Bruno Mars.

To end the program, the student officers organized a raffle for various gifts, prizes, and experiences. Afterwards, the teachers proceeded to the Four Seasons Buffet and Hotpot at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
