MGCNLCA Table Tennis Team Secures Multiple Podium Finishes at TAPAT Division Meet
The MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) Table Tennis Varsity dominated the podium at the Taguig-Pateros Division Meet held at Makati Science High School on January 10, 2026, garnering three gold medals, two silvers, and one bronze.
Representing the Group of Private School Owners and Administrators (GPSOA), the team competed against other public schools, with a lineup consisting of only New Lifers for the first time. In past seasons, players were often eliminated during the APSA-GPSOA stage, making this year a major milestone for the team.
Gwyneth Recato Dy captured the championship title in the High School Girls Singles Division. The winning momentum continued in the High School Girls Doubles, where Rhian Hang and Reese Tyler Hang delivered a commanding performance to seize the gold, securing two gold medals for MGCNLCA in the high school division.
In the High School Boys Singles, Lance Ngo secured a bronze medal after finishing third. The team’s strong showing continued in the High School Boys Doubles, where Matthew Vincent Go and Brendan Mancilla claimed silver as first runners-up.
“In my opinion, this milestone was made possible by our team’s consistent drive to learn, improve, and work as a team. I personally have seen newer players improve tremendously because of their hard work and willingness to learn,” said Team Captain Ngo. “Hopefully, they will continue to have this spirit as they prepare for the NCR Meet and continue to grow in not only their athletic ability, but also their mental ability. Above all, I hope they continue to learn that win or lose, they play for the glory of God.”
Under division rules, only the top two finishers in singles and the top team in doubles qualify for the National Capital Region (NCR) Meet. The High School Girls Singles and Doubles, Elementary Boys Singles, and Elementary Girls Doubles qualified for NCR Palaro Pambansa.
