MGCNLCA Celebrates PYP Month with Games, Music, and Learner Profile Highlights
MGC New Life Christian Academy celebrated PYP Month from March 9 to 27, 2026, to foster meaningful friendships within the PYP community and promote student character development.
The month featured a variety of activities, including group board games like Monopoly, Uno, and Spot It, strategy games such as chess and checkers, karaoke sessions in the music and vibes room, and icebreaker conversations in the chat and hangout room.
“PYP Month expands on last year’s PYP Week and was initiated by the PYP Student Council with the guidance of some teachers,” said PYP Student Council (SC) Adviser Jeff Enerson Manalo.
PYP Month also highlighted the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile Attributes (LPAs), with students and teachers nominating community members who embodied a featured attribute each week. To encourage self-reflection, participants wrote personal goals on paper and placed them in the Thoughtful Week box.
“The goal is not just to spend time with friends, but to also develop character,” added SC Adviser Hannah Pearl Repotente.
Students and teachers recognized for demonstrating the LPAswere showcased with their photos. Among them were Jordan B student Jillian Reece Ngu and Grade 4 teacher Joshua Castillo, both nominated for exemplifying the Caring attribute.
“I was shocked, but very happy that my students nominated me,” said Castillo. Ngu added, “I felt happy to be recognized.”
“At the end of the day, PYP Month is about the connections we build and the character we show,” concluded Galilee D Class Representative Beatrice Sara Yu.
